What I Wish I Knew About Pregnancy the First Time Around AND the LARGEST SALE OF THE YEAR on Materni

There are a few things I wish I knew the first time I was pregnant, that I had absolutely NO CLUE about. There are so many things that women don’t openly speak about, especially if you are one of the first of your friends to get pregnant. I compiled a list of things that I wish I knew were completely normal to experience during pregnancy.

  1. Morning Sickness doesn’t just happen in the morning. Who would have thought? Weeks 8 to 14 were the worst for me, but some women have morning sickness their entire pregnancy. It is counter-intuitive, but something that helps is eating small meals throughout the day. Eating smaller meals, but more often really helped me not feel so sick.

  2. You may take a while to show in your first pregnancy. I still looked barely pregnant at 20 weeks, but don’t worry - the bump is coming! If you decide to have a second baby, you will pretty much show the moment you find out you are pregnant.

  1. You may not love pregnancy, but you will miss feeling those little kicks inside of you. When I was pregnant, it was hard to be imagine not being pregnant, but the opposite was true as well. I started to forget what it

  2. Parts of your body will be very, very sore…

  1. Everyone will offer you advice and their scary birth stories, but you don’t have to listen to it all. I do think education is power, so educating yourself on the types of births and birth language used by doctors and midwifes is important. Learn all you can about what happens to your body in labor, as it approaches birth and what occurs postpartum. Don’t neglect learning what you can about breastfeeding as well. I recommend The Bradley Method, as it covered all the bases and unlike hospital birthing classes, it provides all your option that you can take while in birth.

  2. You grow a completely new organ called a placenta and it will look like a liver when it comes out of you. It still blows me away 3 pregnancies later.

  1. The last month will feel like the entire pregnancy. Seriously, the last month is the longest. People will say things like, “Are you still pregnant?” and it will irritate you. Caring people will text you around your due date and if you go past your due date, these messages will border on annoying. This is all completely normal to feel.
